Springtime is a nice time for riding. We offer adapted rides in the vicinity of the farm as our regular trails are recovering from winter.

About the tour

In the springtime, from April through mid-May, we offer adapted tours near Lake Myvatn. At this time of year, the conditions of our regular trails usually do not permit riding on, so we ride on less travelled roads instead. The tours depart from Álftagerði farm on the south side of Lake Myvatn. Our horses have snowshoes which give them the stability they need for walking on ice and snow.

The tour lasts approximately one hour (time in the saddle) and is suitable for both beginners and experienced riders.



Age limit

The age limit for this tour is 6 years. Children, younger than 6 years, can be accommodated on our private tours.



Included

Helmets are provided for each rider and flynets if necessary. Gloves may be borrowed upon request.



What to bring?

Please dress according to the weather – warm clothes, warm gloves. Sunglasses are very helpful, especially when it is still snowy outside but the sun is out shining.



Note!

Large cameras/lenses should not be taken on the tour and if taken on the tour, any damage is your responsibility.
Please understand that horses are live animals and can be startled by loud noises such as screaming.
Please be advised that 110 kg (242 lbs) is the maximum weight for our strongest horses. If you weigh more than 100 kg (220 lbs), please notify us in advance so we can make necessary arrangements (safarihestar@safarihestar.is).
